The Gifted Education Program at Riffenburgh Elementary is a program for students who have been identified as "gifted" through PSD in either math or literacy. These students work with Mrs. Price twice a week in person and have tasks to complete in class on the other three days. Students leave during WIN time when no new material is being taught. Gifted Education at Riffenburgh is for students in 3rd-5th grade. There are currently 35-45 students each year in this program. All students focus on achieving their Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) goals that are set at the beginning of the year. This is done though book studies, independent research projects, creative problem solving, and other creative activities with a math or language arts focus. Student learning is focused on IB philosophies such as student interests, inquiry based, IB character traits, and educating students on becoming life long learners. Our Gifted Education Program aligns with what students are learning in their classrooms and gives students the challenge they are seeking.
